Father's Day

Father's Day this year was very different than past years. Though, Phillip has been a father as long as I've known him, this year he became a father again. And he's loving it! We celebrated by making a brisket and sides and inviting family over for dinner. We had a great time, as did Joseph. Cousins Jared and Meagan came over and helped keep Joseph entertained. Though Joseph doesn't respond much, yet, I just know he's going to love all the attention his little cousins give him real soon. Joseph and Daddy also tried the hammock out. And I think he likes it! He fell asleep with Tia Liz after dinner. If only I could get one of those in our house...

Graduation

Yesterday we went to cousin Meagan's graduation. From kindergarten, that is. Joseph did very well. He didn't cry at all the whole time. What a good boy!
It was touching to see our little Nutmeg finish up her first year in school. She looked so cute in her green dress and black dress shoes, and wearing her graduation cap. She seemed thrilled to have her family there to see her graduate. (Mommy, Grandma, Tia, Joseph, and friend Grecia)Her teacher gave a heart warming speech and the children sang songs. Then they all lined up to receive their diplomas. As the teacher handed them their diploma she made sure to get a hug from each of them, as well. It was a very nice ceremony, and we are glad to have been a part of Meagan's milestone. Go Meagan, go Meagan...!

The last week of the month

The last week of the month was pretty nerve wracking for us. Our little baby was constipated. I prayed and prayed all week that he would poop. After trying everything from karo syrup with water to milk of magnesia, we finally took him to the doctor on Friday. And of course, while we were waiting for the doctor to see us... he pooped! Go figure! Already doing things when he wants to, not when we want him to. I didn't care, though. I was so happy to see poop I was grinning from ear to ear. Whew! What a relief!
Well, once Joseph started pooping again there was no stopping him. In fact, he let us have it Saturday afternoon. More Daddy than me, but who's keeping track. Daddy had just finished feeding him when Joseph decided to do his business. Daddy let him be so that Joseph could concentrate and get a good load out. Little did Daddy know Joseph's diaper wasn't holding that load! Daddy's shirt had a puddle of poop by the time Joseph was done. Yes, literally a puddle. I was in pure shock I didn't know what to do. I kept running around looking for a towel for Joseph and Daddy. Finally I managed to get it together and got an old towel. I took Joseph straight to the kitchen sink. Unknowingly, leaving a trail of poop all over the floor. At the sink I struggled with his clothes and towel and diaper until Daddy got his clothes off and helped. Once Daddy grabbed Joseph I realized I had poop all over me and the floor. I had no option but to strip down as well. I can't imagine what we looked like in our underpants and spraying junior down in the kitchen sink. Thank God the blinds weren't open!
Whew! But what a relief it was that Joseph pooped!

Two Months Old!

Joseph is two months old today! Wow! How time flies! He has been doing beautifully. He's very observant and is learning to recognize Mommy & Daddy's voices. He loves to be sung to. He especally loves the Sesame Street song. We get big smiles from him. He's grown into liking his swing and vibrating chair, which is a blessing for Mommy. This past week he went to his first photo shoot. He posed for a few shots and decided he was done with that. There was no calming him down. Luckily we did get a few good pictures. He also visited Grandma's house yesterday for the first time. He looked around and took it all in. I think he liked it because he didn't fuss too much. Except only when Tia Liz gave him huge kisses when he wasn't in the mood. He was so upset he turned purple. Thanks Liz.
